The King’s Creation, Part Three

Week FOUR | January 26 – February 1

Day One

Day Two

Day Three

Day Four

Day Five

The book of Psalms is filled with songs and poems about the wonderful work of God, our Creator and King. The Psalms beautifully remind us how big and powerful God is. There is no one or nothing that can compare to him. Psalm 145:13 says, “Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures throughout all generations.” The proclamations of praise and reminders of God’s character encourage us to see God’s design in all of his creation. As you read through some of the Psalms this week, give glory to God for his incredible design.

Day One

Read

Here are some verses for your family to read about creation giving glory to their Creator:

Psalms 19:1:1-6

1 The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.2 Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. 3 There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard. 4 Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun, 5 which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy. 6 Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them, and there is nothing hidden from its heat.

Ask younger kids specific questions about the verses or to retell the passage. Ask older kids critical thinking questions. Here are a few suggestions:

What is praising God in this Psalm?

What beautiful pictures can you see as you read this?

How can you praise God, just as creation praises God?

Pray

Lead your family in a time of prayer over what you read.

Consider the ACTS model:
A – Adoration/ praise God (remember that this is part of worshiping God)
C – Confession (confess sin and your need of God)
T – Thanksgiving (thank God)
S – Supplication (ask God to supply your needs)

Today we will focus on A – Adoration:
Heavenly Father we ADORE you for your wonderful works! Your creation praises you with its beauty. You are a wonderful creator! We see how glorious you are in all that you created. We want to praise You! Help us to do that with our whole life. We love you Lord! In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.

Day Two

Read

Here are some verses for your family to read about creation giving glory to their Creator:

Psalms 135:1-7

1 Praise the Lord! Praise the name of the Lord, give praise, O servants of the Lord, 2 who stand in the house of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our God! 3 Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good; sing to his name, for it is pleasant! 4 For the Lord has chosen Jacob for himself, Israel as his own possession. 5 For I know that the Lord is great, and that our Lord is above all gods. 6 Whatever the Lord pleases, he does, in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all deeps.7 He it is who makes the clouds rise at the end of the earth, who makes lightning for the rain and brings forth the wind from his storehouses.

Creator God, You are worthy to be praised! There is none like You! We admit that we do not always give you the praise and glory you deserve. We are selfish and give our time and attention to other, less important things. Please forgive us, Lord. Thank you for your love and grace that you offer us through faith in Jesus! We pray in His name, amen.

Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in the heights! 2 Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his hosts! 3 Praise him, sun and moon, praise him, all you shining stars! 4 Praise him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens! 5 Let them praise the name of the Lord! For he commanded and they were created.6 And he established them forever and ever; he gave a decree, and it shall not pass away. 7 Praise the Lord from the earth, you great sea creatures and all deeps, 8 fire and hail, snow and mist, stormy wind fulfilling his word! 9 Mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars! 10 Beasts and all livestock, creeping things and flying birds! 11 Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all rulers of the earth! 12 Young men and maidens together, old men and children! 13 Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted; his majesty is above earth and heaven.14 He has raised up a horn for his people, praise for all his saints, for the people of Israel who are near to him. Praise the Lord!
